Bikes, Bungie & Banjo – News Wrap-Up

LeftStickRight: Latest post

Every week we do a quick wrap-up of some news items that may have slipped through the cracks. The wrap-ups will be shorter versions of our articles, lumped together to give you an idea of things you may have missed.

Burnout Gets Bikes, Trophies, Praise

Criterion has announced and released their Burnout Bikes pack for both the PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as the addition of trophies into the PS3 version of Burnout Paradise. It’s a pretty solid release and something that players are getting free of charge. Considering what they’ve done with the series so far, it’s another excellent addition and a great reason to pick up the game that continues to get better and better. With the lowering of the retail price to $29.99 (CDN/USD) within the last month or so, and the lingering news of the release on the PSN, it seems like Criterion is way ahead of the curve on how to make a game experience last.

Bungie Teaser Arrives

After a debacle during a promised but not delivered announcement at E3, another countdown appeared on Bungie’s website that ended this morning showing off a trailer that seems to hint at a Halo related item. There’s not a lot of information out right now, but for fans of the series it will provide lots of juicy speculation over the next few weeks. Not a whole lot to report really, but considering the wave of influence that Bungie has had on the industry with their FPS series, and the massive following with their new title after a sort-of separation with Microsoft. Expect more from this very soon.

Banjo-Kazooie Coming to XBLA

Although it had been announced previously that this was coming Rare has given dates from Banjo-Kazooie, the popular Nintendo 64 platformer, that will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade following closely to their Xbox 360 title Nuts & Bolts. The game will be arriving on November 26th, or a full two weeks prior for those who pick up the 360 title on pre-order. At a modest 1200 Microsoft Points (~$17CDN), you will be treated to a slightly updated version of the title, but don’t expect much to differ past the original version.

For those who haven’t had an opportunity to play the game, those who were either too young or too jaded, should give it a chance. While its sequel, Banjo-Tooie is generally known as more of a collect-o-fest, the first has a very unique charm and style that really came together, and it’s something we’re hoping that Nuts & Bolts will re-create.
