TGS is upon us now, so news is starting to roll in about the latest in gaming from across the pond. It officially kicks off this evening, but don’t expect much of the news to roll in until the morning after the keynotes have finished and the press gets most of the information out of the various companies presenting. In the midst of all this, a terrible tragedy may befall us all and it’s up to you to stop it.
For those that haven’t heard, LittleBigPlanet is poised to arrive this month with a lot of hype and positive press surrounding it. This week, we’ve had limited opportunity to try out the beta (impressions will come later this week) and it has been a very interesting experience. Not going to really reveal much, since it’s always best to save judgment for the final product, but there have been some very unique and engaging levels coming out of the beta experience. Now Media Molecule, the makers of the game, are asking the community whether or not the content should be wiped out from the servers when the game goes to the shelves.
While the idea behind it makes sense, it seems almost a travesty to undo the hard work that’s been put in so far. So, Mm is putting it to a vote, and you have the opportunity to decide. The game’s call to fame, and the main reason why it’s garnering such a following is because of the community driven content idea. It’s the wisdom of crowds concept delivered in game design, and what’s been done so far is certainly worth exploring. While it’s true that giving everyone a fair ground to build on at the start is a good concept, having more content is just more things for players to do once they are given the game, and it is the better choice here.
Go vote and make sure these levels were not built for nothing.
